Windows Live now integrates the social aspects of your life throughout our entire range of products. You can now stay connected and up to date with the important things, the moment they happen.
Social networking and social platforms are now an important part of our lives. They act as a kind of timeline highlighting significant events that we like to keep track of. From birthday wishes posted on your Facebook page to amazing YouTube clips that go viral on the Web, we love to stay updated and in synch with our friends and the world around us.
We know many of you have MySpace accounts and we realise you may be one of the many millions of Australians who visit their Facebook page pretty much every day, so we've added more social integration to all things Windows Live. Our social hub includes your Windows Live Profile, Windows Live Messenger Social feed (formerly your What's New feed), Windows Live Photos, Windows Live Groups and anything else that relates to you and your friends.
Want to get up to speed on what this is all about? Here's a 30-second summary which covers the basics of all things social.
Windows Live Profile
With your profile you can select your profile picture, add your status update, upload some photos and add personal contacts that may come in handy. It's basically a feed of you and your friends' online activities on Windows Live.
Windows Live Messenger Social feed
Formerly your What's New feed, it's shown from within Windows Live including Hotmail, Messenger and your profile page to aggregate the best of what your friends are doing around the Web.
Windows Live Photos
It's a free online service for sharing photos and videos with the people you choose. As you'd expect, it works well with Windows Live Photo Gallery and SkyDrive. So edit and sort your photos then share them with your friends in the Photos section.
Windows Live Groups
It's the perfect place to connect with your real-world groups online. Communicate and collaborate on private group pages, announce upcoming events, share fun photos, and instantly chat with your contacts.
There's plenty to discuss but this should get you started. You'll notice social integration in all Windows Live products, so make sure you check back here to get the latest updates on Windows Live. In the mean time check out home.live.com or go to your Windows Live profile to add feeds or update your personal profile.
Look for this update and many more over the coming weeks as we start delivering them to your Hotmail account.
