While you may want to flick back to Facebook all day, there are probably a few good reasons why many of us can't. These reasons might include work, school, or just generally fighting the urge because you know you're only a step away from full-blown addiction.
Despite this, you may find that you're logged into Messenger for entirely different reasons, so that's why we've made it possible for you to update your Facebook status from there, because who wants to spend the time updating them separately when you can knock them both over in one hit?
Before you get started, you'll need to set up Facebook as a web activity for your Windows Live account. There's no need to chew up more space taking you through that here, so if you haven't already, check out or how-to guide for Web Activities.
Once you've done that, next time you log into Facebook you'll see the option to add Windows Live in your applications menu and you should click on that.
Next, follow the couple of easy steps to set up Windows Live as a Facebook application, making sure you add Messenger to your profile. You'll also be prompted to sign-in to the Windows Live account that you want to sync with Facebook.
A list of your Facebook friends will pop up, just select those friends of yours who are already Messenger contacts or invite those who aren't to start using Windows Live, so that you can sync up across both services.
After that, go back to your Facebook home page and click on the settings tab choose applications settings from the drop-down menu, then choose Windows Live Messenger from the list of options that appears.
From there, click on the settings tab to the right of the Messenger application page.
A new pop-up menu will appear asking you to choose which Messenger activities you'd like to sync to Facebook. In this case, select "Automatic message updates" to enable your Messenger personal message to also appear as your Facebook status update.
After that, make sure to save all of your updated settings, then log out of both Facebook and Windows Live, then log back into each one to establish the link.
When you've done all that, the next time you update your Messenger personal message, it'll also appear in Facebook as your status update. Too easy!
