It's easy to take charge of who sends you what with Windows Live

While it might work for some of us to plaster everything that happens out there to anyone who might care to look, it's not the way we all want to roll. Check this out to find out how you can take charge of who can see what you're doing, now read on below to find out how you can control who gets in touch.

Windows Live gives you a lot of options when it comes to controlling your privacy settings; you can choose whether your profile is visible to everyone or just your contacts, or even selected contacts. But you might also want to decide on who can send you invitations and personal messages, it just takes a few quick steps.

How to change who can contact you

1. Go to your general options page. You can get there from the options dropdown on your homepage or profile. Click Options, and then click More options.

2. On the general options page, in the Notifications section, click Communications preferences.

3. Use the dropdown menus to set who can contact you. The different choices are:

i) Anyone — this means anyone on the Internet can contact you
ii) People in your network — these are the people on your profile, in Messenger, or both
iii) People in your extended network — these are the people connected with the people in your network (you can think of them as "friends of your friends")
iv) No one

4. If you make any changes, be sure to click Save.
